There are 92 municipalities (comuni) in the province, with the largest ones being Sassari, Olbia, Alghero, Porto Torres, Tempio Pausania, Sorso, Ozieri, Ittiri, and Sennori. Pattada, another town in the province, is especially known for its handmade knives.
